This project has now moved into Phase 2. It is focused on putting the validated recommendations into practice by updating the Auslan, Interpreting and Translating qualifications in accordance with the Training Package Organising Framework.

Update #9: Public Consultation Video #3 and #4
Hello.
This is an update on the Auslan, Interpreting and Translating Qualification Review project.
We are pleased to share that the first round of Public Consultation has now concluded.
This stage of consultation was open for four weeks, giving stakeholders and community members the opportunity to review the draft training products and provide feedback on the proposed changes.
During the first round of Public Consultation, we held two virtual consultation sessions with stakeholders from across Australia and received valuable feedback through both the sessions as well as written submissions.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate and share their views. Your feedback is helping to inform the future of the Auslan training products.
What happens next?
The project team is now compiling, reviewing and analysing all feedback received through the consultation process.
In addition, we recently held two dedicated Linguistics Workshops with some members of the Technical Committee and the Auslan Educators Group. These workshops focused on the linguistic content within the Auslan language units and provided an opportunity to discuss key themes emerging through Public Consultation in more detail.
This feedback will be presented to the Technical Committee and the Auslan Educators Group during Meeting #4.
During these meetings, members will discuss the feedback received, consider how key issues can be addressed, and identify the preferred approach for updating the training products.
The outcomes of these discussions will inform the next steps in the review and the ongoing development of the training products.
We are also preparing for the upcoming in-person Public Consultation workshops to be held in November in each capital city. During these sessions, we will continue discussing the progress of the review and training product updates.
